Fairy Tale Locations in Connecticut

This blog post piggybacks on my Best Instagram Locations in Connecticut. I’m adding a subcategory, fairy tale spots! These are locations that have an added sense of whimsy, wonder and make you want to twirl around. Places to go and feel as though you’ve stepped into a magical land of nature’s beauty. Here are my favorite fairy tale locations in Connecticut.

Elizabeth Park, West Hartford

Elizabeth Park is a good destination for early to mid June. The Helen S. Kaman rose garden is one of my favorite places in all of Connecticut. It’s straight out of Bridgerton. The rose garden is the largest I’ve ever been to. Twirling under the arches full of rose blooms is mesmerizing. The garden is so large, I’ve always found a row of arches to have all to myself.

Boothe Memorial Park, Stratford

Boothe Memorial is my local rose garden that feels like a hidden gem. The combination of the museums and rose garden make it a dreamy spot.

Roseland Cottage, Woodstock

I visited Roseland early September one year. It was back in pandemic times so we couldn’t go inside the cottage, but the grounds were stunning. I was in heaven walking around the gardens. It felt as though I was in a fairy tale for real.

Lavender Pond Farm, Killingworth

I went to Lavender Pond Farm with my children. I wouldn’t recommend that! The place was amazing and my kids weren’t having it with the bees. I need to go back again without them ;) A summer destination, but I also recommend them for holiday gifts! Their online store is fantastic.

Topsmead State Forest

Topsmead is a place I’ve been to in every season! The lilac tree lined paths are stunning in spring. The garden in summer is the best. The autumn trees while looking out the back over the hills is mesmerizing. The paths are great for snow shoeing in winter.

Waveny Park, New Canaan

I went to Waveny for group professional photos for Fairfield County Mom. I was blown away by the beauty of the place!

Harkness Memorial State Park

I’ve written all about this park (see here), but it needs to be on this list too. I mean, just look at this sunken garden!

Honorable Mentions:

I have two honorable mention spots. One is Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden and the other is Laurel Ridge Daffodil Field in Litchfield. Sleeping Giant hiking in autumn is amazing. The old ruins have a touch of historical magic to them. If you aren’t into history, it might not be that fairy tale like to you. Laurel Ridge is an honorable mention because it’s really only magical for a short period of time. It’s a must see during daffodil season!

There’s my seven top picks for fairy tale locations in Connecticut! I think I did a good job with having spots all over Connecticut. What would you add to this list?

I’m adding a new tag to my blog, Fairy Tale Spots. I’ll update it with blog posts in other parts of the world. Places where I feel as though I’ve stepped into another realm of beauty.
