In the beginning of summer 2024 we checked off state park number 41 from our list! We journeyed to Wadsworth Falls on a hot summer day. Boy did I wish they allowed for swimming at the base of the falls! The water looked so clear and inviting, but always, always, follow the rules of your state parks. It’s for your safety. We looked and listened and didn’t stay too long because of the heat. Here is all about our journey to Wadsworth Falls.

Whenever hiking is happening on a hot day, we set out early. Wadsworth Falls took us about an hour to get to from our house. There is a small parking lot near the falls. It only has a porta potty, fyi. I always like to know about the restroom situation at the parks! The falls is a short hike from the parking lot. I would say it isn’t stroller friendly, but an easy hike for small ones.

I think we spent a maximum of twenty minutes at the park. I could sit and listen to a waterfall for hours, but it was just too hot that morning. I like that my teens are starting to enjoy our Connecticut State Park adventures. I can see them appreciating nature and the peace it brings when you are there.

If you are looking for a state park that isn’t too difficult and gives amazing nature vibes, Wadsorth Falls is a perfect place for that! A nice park to start with if you have small children and want to get them outside and started on a nature journey.
After visiting the falls we drove to West Hartford and ate at Doro. We enjoyed our lunch there! From there we walked around Elizabeth Park and enjoyed the rose garden. It was an enjoyable summer day.
We are looking forward to checking off more state parks this spring and summer! What is your favorite state park where you live?
