Connecticut State Parks Journeys: Haystack Mountain

Still resting up from my MCL knee tear and not heading to any parks any time soon so I will continue to share adventures from 2020.

Early autumn my girls and I made our first trip to Haystack Mountain State Park in Norfolk. There is a bit of a winding road to get to the top, and if I didn’t have several unhappy-why-are-we-doing-this kids I would have parked further down the mountain and hiked more. For those looking for a fairly easy hike you should certainly drive up the road until you can’t anymore. And FYI, there is a restroom up there too.

Even the drive in was lovely!
It was only about 1/2 mile to the tower
The view was a good one. Apparently the 360 views include NY, MA and even VT!

This hike, since it was only a little more than a mile total from the top parking lot, was a favorite of my kids. A hike that is not a lot of strenuous exercise with a tower and view is always a win in their book!
