Connecticut State Park Journeys: Larkin Trail and Whittmore Glen

Last summer the kids and I hit up both these Connecticut State Parks in the same day. They are close to each other, so close in fact that you only have to park one place to get to both of them! Larkin Trail and Whittemore Glen were easy hikes for us! They marked off parks number 42 and 43 on our list.

Larkin State Park

We parked in a small lot at the Larkin State Park Trail trailhead on route 63. I took us along the flat path for about half a mile and then followed the blue trail to the white into Whittmore Glen. We hiked trough the woods back over to route 63. From there we followed the trail back to the parking lot. The total time there was 34 minutes and we hiked about 1.5 miles.

Even though it was a warm day, the shade from the trees kept us from getting too hot. There are no restroom facilities at the park. We drove to Middlebury after our hike and found restrooms and a snack in that area.

I would say the Larkin path is nice and flat, great for bikes or strollers! The Whittmore Glen trails are fine for small children but only for hiking. Happy trails!
