Connecticut State Park Journeys: Campbell Falls

I love a good hike that brings you to a beautiful waterfall! I’ve seen pictures of Campbell Falls but had no idea how big it was; the waterfall is so much taller than I was expecting. This Connecticut State Park in Norfolk easily jumped towards the top of my favorite in Connecticut! The actual waterfall is just over the border in Massachusetts though ;)

I visited Campbell Falls with my husband on a Thursday afternoon and we only encountered one other person at the park. It was so quiet, allowing us to really enjoy the peace of the water falling. The hike was certainly kid friendly, not stroller friendly though. As with most parks this autumn of 2023, it was wet and some rocks by the waterfall were slippery, making it slightly difficult in areas.

We parked at the park entrance on Spaulding Rd. There is also an entrance closer to the waterfall, on Campbell Falls Rd, but we wanted to get in a longer hike before getting to the falls. There are no restrooms or facilities at this park.

I love to see beautiful, natural rock formations. Took a selfie with some at Campbell Falls.

There are two parts of the park with short stone pillars showing you where the Connecticut and Massachusetts borders are. I had fun jumping from one state to the other back and forth!

The other side says Mass.

The water was so clear and mesmerizing.

We hiked a total of about 50 minutes but spent a considerable amount of that time at the waterfall. Total distance was 1.63 miles out and back. Completed my 39th Connecticut State Park!
