Connecticut State Park Journeys: Mianus River

I’m getting to the stage of my state park journeys where the parks are getting further and further away from my house. I knew we’d get there some day :) Mianus River State Park was about 40 minutes from my house; I’m getting into the 45 min to one hour travel time. I hope to get in several more parks over the summer. Here is how my children and I spent our time at Mianus River State Park.

Mianus River is a large park! The kids and I (and two dogs) parked and entered at the Stamford entrance. Here is the loop we did:

The path we followed was easy, great for kids and pets. I enjoyed hiking along the river to start; hearing the water flowing while walking was peaceful. It was a warm summer morning and the tree covering provided shade most of the time.

I would have liked to venture into more of the park but the kids had enough after our 1.3 miles and the fact that we forgot to use bug spray :) This was our 36th Connecticut State Park!
