Happy September! We are experiencing the morning chills here and I find myself stepping outside with my puppies and taking in a deep breath. It feels refreshing! I love my relaxing summer days but find back to school time to be bittersweet. I’m diving in deep with autumn fashion and trends. Here are my favorite fall styles for 2024.

Pleated Skirts

Pleats have been coming back in style for a couple of years now but this year it’s focused on short skirts! I found this bright one from Anthropologie and it has a soft jersey type feel. My teen daughter picked out a plaid one from Target and loves it. I found the cute little plaid ones to be more appropriate for the younger gals, but to each their own!

Wide Legs

I love how wide leg pants are widespread now, with many styles available to us. I’ve had a few pairs for a couple of years but this year the pleated wide leg bottoms take the cake.

I found the light Gap pants just below to be a nice transition piece from summer into autumn. I wore them golfing one morning and then put on the outfit below for the rest of that day. I was very comfortable! The pants run slightly big, I’m in my usual small petite and I could have sized down for sure.

Stripes

Stripes are here in a big way for fall 2024! Vests are too and I decided to get the striped vest seen above; one with black stripes that can be wore with lots of items in my closet. I also have a long sleeve striped top (see here, but almost sold out) I bought last spring and have worn it with all bottoms I own. :)

Chestnut & Denim

I’m adoring the combination of anything denim and the color chestnut! Ground breaking for fall, I know, lol. I am seeing lots of denim dresses and denim mini and midi skirts for autumn. I love it because those styles seamlessly fall into winter too; just add tights! This outfit below has been, without a doubt, my favorite autumn style I’ve worn so far this season.

Cardigans were big last fall and still holding strong this year too. I love the one below, the texture and ease of wearing with many different outfits. The chestnut pleated wide leg pants are on my wishlist.

Shoes: Mesh Flats, Lug Sole Boots, Sneakers

Shoe trends this fall are all over the place! You can’t go wrong :) Ballet flats in a mesh material or in a Mary Jane style are everywhere. I bought new Sorel lug sole boots from this year’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and love them. Any type of sneaker is cool! You can wear your sneakers with any outfit you want, even a suit.

I’ve had these Birdies sneakers below for a few years now and still love them for this time of year. Wore them with many dresses! Finished decorating my porch for fall :)
