Quality Not Quantity Project: Autumn Edition

I’ve been on a bit of a style journey lately. I do not want to be an over consumer. This summer I started making lists of what is in my closet and what I don’t use. I’m seeing what I want to add in order to create a sustainable base wardrobe. I want my clothes to last a long time. I decided to start a quality not quantity project and this is the autumn edition.

Sustainability

To me, being eco-friendly means buying sustainable items and ethical fabrics. Shopping from companies that promote their ethical practices is key to this. I’m still learning about what that looks like for companies and where to shop. Here are a list of several stores and brands I’m shopping from:

  • Everlane
  • Mango
  • Zimmerman
  • Sandro
  • Rag & Bone
  • Sezane
  • Eileen Fisher

I’m also paying attention to fabrics and what lasts in my closet. Cotton and linen usually last a long time. Of course leather and wool do too. I am a lover of trends and am learning how to work with that and remain sustainable. That leads me to my next section, thrifting.

Thrifting

It’s no surprise that eco-friendly shopping involves thrift shopping. I love my local Goodwill stores. There is a thrift store we have at a local church, always great deals. I also enjoy my local Facebook Buy Nothing group. Many places to shop second hand and be mindful of the environment.

I’m moving towards trends that are timeless. Last autumn I bought a barn coat (sold out, but here are similar on Orvis), which is trendy at the moment. I considered it a piece worthy of its cost. I can see myself wearing it for the long term.
