Soft Mom Era: Autumn Edition

Back in July I wrote about entering into my soft mom era. See the post here. I’m updating the idea for autumn. I think I’ll do this seasonally for the time being! Here is how I’m staying in my soft mom era for autumn.

This is a silly section, but just be home more. I’m already failing this September! So busy. I know the start of the school year brings more stuff to do, but I’m concentrating on less of it. Saying NO. Being home. I love being home; it’s my favorite place on earth. Stupid to think I have to tell myself to do this, but I do indeed.

Be home to take care of the space, be with the pets, sit on my porch, read, etc. I have a goal to make some new recipes. I’m reading Mark Twain and it’s going to take some time! Part of being home leads me to my next section, scents.

One of the cool things about being part of Fairfield County Mom is that I get to know local businesses. We have several local candle companies! I have lots of candles around my house that I’d like to actually use. The scent of fall needs to fill the air at home! I’m soothed by warm and inviting scents and I want my kids to feel that too. What’s your favorite fall scent?

Being at home, with fall scents in the air, leads to more creative time. I write about this a lot, my apologies, but being creative helps my mental health year long. I have to remind myself often and make it easier to jump into whatever I’m feeling that day. I have been watching sale prices for my chunky yarn and have a large stock of it now! Making blankets is a priority for me this autumn. What creative endeavors are you up to?

I have a beautiful large tub in my master bathroom, it collects some dust (and pollen when I have the windows open). When we renovated our bathroom last year my contractor said no one uses their bathtubs. I said, I will! I think in a year I took like five. More baths! Especially once my pool closes very soon, I need water. I need to soak and float in water. Do you relax in baths often? I’m curios!

Now, for a soft mom autumn, I also need to get out of the house and enjoy the changing of the seasons. I know this. I’ve been working on a Connecticut Micro Adventures blog post, to be out soon. Small half day excursions of being a tourist in my own state. Quick excursions for enjoying the outdoors in autumn is at the top of my to-dos this fall.

How are you nurturing a soft life in autumn?
