Happy New Year 2024! Looking back over the last year, I feel a sense of accomplishment. With my eyes on a new year and being someone who doesn’t really make resolutions, I like making concrete plans, I’m excited for what this year will bring. I thought I’d start by sharing what I’m seeing as some early style trends for 2024.

Feminine Details

Flying off a year influenced by the Barbie movie, this year is gravitating towards feminine details beyond pink. It was seen this holiday season, styles graced with bows, ruffles and feathers, making for options past the sequins we see every year.

Feather details are fabulous for parties, date nights and special occasions.

Ruffle details are easy to add in to everyday styles. A hair bow makes even a sweatshirt look pulled together. This trend rolls into home styling as well.

Neutrals

As a sort of opposition to the feminine details, let’s discuss neutrals. To combat the overly feminine vibes, combining them with neutrals balances a complete look. For example, a light tan blazer over a dress, khaki pants with a ruffle blouse or a long ivory coat over your feathery style.

I’m loving the neutral pants as an everyday option. Look for an upcoming blog post specifically styling them.

I don’t personally have a longline coat, but it’s on my wishlist! Coats that hit mid calf and look like a closet purchase that will last years to come. I love the idea of a neutral coat to hug me all winter, over any outfit I can create.

Sneakers

I’m excited to see sneakers continue to make their way into style trends for the last few years. Maybe it’s coming off the pandemic and all of us loving our happier feet, maybe sneaker companies are listening and creating options beyond running shoes, or maybe we just feel nostalgic of our middle school years when we wore our Sambas everywhere (it’s me.)

A Christmas present to myself (hey, we all do it), a pair of Adidas Sambas. Look for a future blog post on these babies.

I feel as though sneakers can be worn with anything these days. A dress, a suit, denim outfits, athlesiure styles, any outfit that isn’t formal can be worn with a sneaker.

I love wearing sneakers with my dresses! Birdies The Roadrunner sneakers have been a favorite of mine for years.
