How Wednesday Changed My Style

I loved the Wednesday series on Netflix from last year and if you follow me on Instagram, you know I started doing a Wednesday Wednesday Style series this past winter. On Wednesdays my style was inspired by Wednesday Addams. I had fun with it, especially in winter when I am grumpy and moody and hating fashion and heavy warm clothes. I looked forward to Wednesdays and what I could throw together.

I didn’t expect how Wednesday would change my style from then on; I was fashionably made over, mentally and physically.

With the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale near, the Anthropologie Like To Know It sale happening this weekend, and Amazon Prime Days on the horizon, I find myself looking at my current closet and making wishlists. I am surprised how all of the fashion items I am considering are generally dark with a touch of neutral. I basically found a love of black and how it made my style simple. It made my style forthright and understated, in the best possible way. Everything goes with black. Lots of fashion items also come in black. I don’t have to sacrifice style for simplicity.

Maybe I’m late to the game here :) but I am adding more black to my closet, creating a more stable wardrobe. My outfits will feel more timeless and I’ll have a fantastic base wardrobe that will be seamless in creating many outfits. Mentally I was ready for simplicity and spending less time thinking about what I was going to wear.

I’ve written before how I felt as though capsule wardrobes were boring, I love color, and that hasn’t changed. I’ll still add in my own flair and keep with my overall love of vintage fashions, but I welcome the change.

Wednesday Addams style, even though she is a young girl, allowed my own mid-40s style to mature and morph creatively.

Has your style ever been influenced by a tv character?
