Five Ways To Style a Black Tank Dress

This Michael Stars tank dress had been on my clothing wish-list for about two years and when I saw it was on sale at Evereve over Labor Day weekend I decided to go for it. And not surprised, I love it. It’s extremely comfortable, goes with everything I own and I’ll get three seasons out of it. Here are currently five ways I’m styling this dress:

Simply on it’s own ~

Hat is from Anthropologie, sneakers are Nike from Nordstrom (love these ones!)

A cargo vest adds some dimension, not to mention pockets ~

Vest is from Target (similar), booties are from Nordstrom (similar), necklace is Stella & Dot

For cooler on the go days, add a jean jacket (any color works!) and comfortable high tops (not that I’m really on the go these days) ~

Jacket is from Stitch Fix (referral code), sneakers are from Evereve

For date night, added a faux suede jacket and booties ~

Jacket is from Anthropologie (other similar), booties are Nordstrom

And for cooler autumn days at home added this cozy sweater ~

Sweater from Amazon, Nike sneakers from Nordstrom (newer version)

Some thoughts on saving money on style, a lot of what I’m wearing I bought on sale. I only pay full price if it’s something I really need or it’s to-die for, which is rare to be honest. My recommendation is to make wish-lists at each retailer you love and be patient. Sometimes they email you a coupon just for having a wish-list, true story! Especially in 2020, sales and coupons seem to be coming at you regularly.

I’ve become less cautious about buying fashion on Amazon. The quality won’t be fantastic but for an item I’ll only wear one season, like the sweater above, it’s worth it. It’s worth it if you want a piece that’s trendy and you don’t care if it doesn’t last years. As an fyi, the sweater says to hand wash, yeah, um, OK, I don’t think so. I washed it on the gentle cycle and dried it on the drying rack with no problems.

Do you have a casual black dress you love?
